Weird and Wonderful Things Seen in Cape Town

Over the years, I’ve built up a collection of weird and wonderful things seen on my travels and at home. Public transport in Cape Town was my main inspiration, as you can see below. Many of these made me giggle, or think, “Only in South Africa!”. If you enjoy these pictures, be sure to check out my German collection here.

Ushering the penguins to their outdoor swimming playground, Two Oceans Aquarium
Madiba material for sale at a street-side market
Shark warning at Fish Hoek Beach
Minibus taxi mounting the pavement on a bridge, sending pedestrians running out the way.
It’s a dog’s life in Cape Town – my dog Cleo sunbathing in summer
Make-shift draught beer, ice cold, South African style
Improvised toddler leash (scarf) at the Golden Acre shopping centre, CBD
Mounted policemen crossing the bridge just after dawn
Groot Constantia wine farm – NO PICKING!
Not sure quite what was wrong with this train…
Biltong and honey for sale
Fat seal having a nap at Kalk Bay harbour
“Buttskop” (Butt Head?)
